What we are looking for?
We look for researchers and entrepreneurs from all the industries, which in the past few years have been developing innovative solutions to alleviate the increasing problem of space junk. Generally speaking, successful entries will be those which provide a technology that is as much compact as possible while at the same containing costs.
Timing and Process
Year 1 – Space Ideas
In the first year, we will be looking for fresh ideas about systems that can provide effective solutions to remove space junk. Proposals must be notably different from existing systems and in this case, an idea is really all we need. Finalists will have the honour of presenting their ideas before sponsors, investors, peers and a panel of independent judges during an event that will be organised by OmniCompete (event structure, title and date tbc). Winner(s) receive prize money.
Year 2 – Space Demonstration (Prototype)
In the second year, we want to see prototypes of systemsthat can plausibly be implemented within 2-5years. Systems can still be bench based and may be not completely developed. However, their potential must be evident. As with the previous year, finalists will have the possibility to present their prototypes before sponsors, investors, peers and a panel of independent judges during the event organised by OmniCompete (event structure, title and date tbc).
Year 3 – Space Full Demonstration
In the final year of the Competition entrants must submit a system that is ready for demonstration as systems will be put to the test in real world situations. Finalists will compete against each other at the event organised by OmniCompete (event structure, title and date tbc). The aim of the last competition event is to proclaim the winning space debris innovation.
